I was born in Orel, a small town about 400 km south of Moscow in 1982. I graduated from Orel State University in 2004, as a geographer and as a teacher of geography. In 2004, I began my soil science master’s degree at the Pushchino Research Center, and graduated in 2006. In 2010, I received my PhD in biology with the specialization in soil science. The PhD dissertation was titled “Relation of Cryosols at Kolyma Lowland with the upper layers of permafrost”.

I’ve worked as a researcher at the Soil Cryology Laboratory of the Institute of Physico-Chemical and Biological Problems in Soil Science (Russian Academy of sciences) since 2005. Main research interests are in studying of genesis and ecological functions of permafrost–affected soils in high latitudes and also at high altitudes, their structure and genesis, soil-permafrost interaction, cryoconservation of biota, nutrients and contaminants.

During this period, I published more than 100 scientific publications, including 26 papers in Russian and international peer-reviewed journals. My regular field work sites are Kola Peninsula, Bolshezemelskaya Tundra, Polar Urals, North Jakutia, Baikal region, Kamchatka Peninsula, Antarctica, and some others. In the 2011-2016 period, I’ve been involved in seven grants as principal investigator, and and 11 as co-investigator. I laso received numerous travel grants from local organization committees and other funders to give oral and poster presentations at NICOP (Fairbanks, 2008), ASSW (Bergen, 2009), SCAR (Edinburgh, 2011), CFG8 (Obergurgl, 2012), TICOP (Salekhard, 2012), World Snow Forum (Novosibirsk, 2013), ICOP (Potsdam, 2016).
In 2012, I won the "Young Scientists of IPCBPSS RAS research contest", and in the following year the "Young Scientists of Puschino Scientific Center research contest". Since 2007, I serve as a Permafrost Young Researchers Network (PYRN) National Representative for Russia. Together with my colleagues, I helped organize the First PYRN-Russia Workshop “PYRN in Russia: From Frozen to Thawed State” (Puschino, 2009). I’m also the regular member of the organizing Committee of the International Conference "Earth Cryology: XXI Century" (Puschino, 2013, 2015 and 2017).  In the October 2016, I was involved in the organization of the International Russian-Japanese conference of young polar scientists «Prospects of joint investigations in polar regions of the planet» in Moscow, which gathered about 50 young scientists from both countries. The conference was supported by the Japan Consortium for Arctic Environmental Research (JCAR), Arctic Research Center (Hokkaido University), Japan Arctic Research Network Center (J-ARC NET), Association of Polar Early Career Scientists JAPAN, Permafrost Young Researchers Network RUSSIA, Japan-Russia Youth Exchange Center, and different organizations and funds within the Russian Federation.

In 2017 I was elected as the new co-chair of the Cryosol Working Group (www.cryosols.org) of the International Union of Soil Sciences.
